Taking 1 Minute - Highlight

Hi dear ones?

I thank God for the opportunity to see a new week. Boy am I glad the year is also coming to an end. Love the holiday season as this is the time I get to meet family members I have not seen in years. What are your holidays plans? Have you guys made any? (Or am I planning too early :))

Anyway, I had a long lovely weekend. On Friday I woke up to lovely scents of Swahili spices that filled the atmosphere as women cooked delicious dishes to celebrate Eid. Men,women and children rushed their way to the mosque for prayer and afterwards to celebrate the day. I got to meet friends I had not seen in a while at an Eid party.  We had a great time chatting and just feasting the afternoon away. There was lovely Swahili and Ugandan traditional food i.e. pilau, barbecued goat meat, chapatti, groundnut sauce, matooke, chicken etc.

Saturday was beautiful as hubby and I headed to the capital city Kampala (which is 2 hours away) with Deidra and Joe for a double date day out. I have featured Deidra and Joe a couple of times on this blog. We had a great time as we were catching up and singing to lovely tunes as we drove away. We first started off by going to the movies to watch Sparkle. Now I must say I love this movie. It got me laughing, excited and crying a couple of times. I would definitely recommend this movie for watching.

Oasis Mall in Kampala, one good get away place with good shopping places and restaurants.

We enjoyed lunch at this lovely Italian restaurant called Mediterraneo Restaurant. I just loved the beautiful décor that was topped up with great customer care and lovely ambience of Italian music in the background. The food was scrumptious and the desert was heavenly. Let me just say I enjoyed myself.

Lovely dessert, Deidra would agree with me :)

Got gifted this lovely book mark from Deidra. Isn't it gorgeous? Thank you so much. It gives me the oomph to get more books to read ;)

PS: sorry for the picture quality, i used my phone to capture this, but i think it did a great job, though not compared to the professional camera.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Cook out :)

Hi guys!

Today am all smiles as it is a public holiday hence a long weekend.  How I enjoy kicking back and just relax through the days, although most of the time I end up getting something to do in the house. I always find myself getting a corner or room in the house that I want to work on in terms of putting order or redecorating. If it is in my room, I end up rearranging the room or color-coding the things in my closet. People who know me well know I cannot stay in disorder, I always find something to fix (which is not good all the time, I need to learn to just relax.)

Anyway, about today’s post, I know I have not posted on food before. I am meant to share with you some recipes of food I enjoy. I am not the best chef in town, but I can surely fix something good to put a smile on a hungry tummy. I cooked this yesterday after work for dinner. It is mashed potatoes, fish, plantain and carrot salad. I do my best in each meal to make it as healthy as possible hence I avoid over cooking food and try eating it in its natural state. So far I enjoy the food Uganda has to offer as you find food in its greenest form (if there’s something like that). I enjoy the huge pineapples, mangoes, carrots, and vegetables we buy from the market, which are also affordable as compared to other places, I have been.

Have a great weekend good people

High Low

Happy new week guys!
Time is flying by and I am exited the year is coming to an end. How was your weekend? What were you guys up to? I had an ok weekend filled with chores, doing hair and just having me time.

I feel like its been forever since I posted an outfit post. I wore this outfit yesterday to church and had the photo shoot hours later. I recently got this high low skirt and I couldn’t wait to explore it.

What do you guys think of my new hairstyle? I have not braided my hair this way for the past 5 years. It feels different and I am yet to play around and explore it.

I was feeling a little blue before this photo shoot and I am so happy to have Helga as my close friend and photographer.  She is the lady behind most of the beautiful pictures on my blog. By the time we finished the shoot, I had a big smile on my face. I am so grateful for the good friends I have in Uganda. They are all special and have embraced me and given me a lovely time in this country. Love you all.

Thank you for stopping by. Enjoy the week.

Peplum Love

Peplum Love

Hi good people!

Peplums are a major trend. When buying, one should consider the right peplum according to their body type. Peplum tops can be worn with skinny jeans, bootleg jeans, formal trousers, pencil skirts, midi skirts, shorts, cigaret pants, tailored jackets etc.

One can also add a touch of pointed heels, high heels for a classy look or flats for a casual look.

I need to work on my peplum collection, loving the trend.

Have a great day.

Happy Birthday Binja :)

Once upon a time in a far, far away land... a lovely baby girl was born on this day. I can still remember the songs we sung as we welcomed her home from the hospital... they were songs of joy and jubilation :)

Each year she blossomed to a beautiful girl inside out.

She had a big heart for not only her family but it was extended to other people she met. Cant forget each time we went out with her, she always looked at other babies and called out to them saying "Bebe carry" meaning she wants to carry the baby forgetting she was a baby :)

Cant forget all the good times we had. No amount of pictures can explain the lovely moments that we cherish in our hearts.

The most fun person to be with. There was never a dull moment with this lovely lady. From singing with her siblings, to being the big sister to the young ones, the disciplinarian (Becky! can i get a fist pump to that one), the counsellor, the prayer warrior, the daughter....

Cant forget how each prize giving day event in school you scooped all the presents and made us look like we are not working hard at all, Best in Math, best in English, Best in Sciences, Best student overall, Most disciplined, the list goes on!! Heish! In deed she is our Doctor in the making ;)

Her wisdom was way beyond her years, it fathomed many.

Also a true fashionista at heart too.

And this girl is Binja. May God bless you and grant you the desires of your heart. Love you so much.
This one is just for you. Thank you for being my pillar of strength when i so needed, my best friend, my confidant, my role model, my cheerleader, my support,  MY SISTER. I love you B! No distance can separate what we have (Becky fist pump to that). We your family and friends love you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
